Dark GeeseThis property offers pristine Goose hunting right off of the Vrain river. With open harvest fields in the middle of the flyway, this property is great for big days. Hunters must abide by all Colorado state rules and regulations in terms of limits etc. Hunters must also have all tags, stamps, licenses etc. The pit is a little deep at 4'8". The pit does not have a platform for dogs. SPEEDING OVER 15mph ON PRIVATE ROADS WILL RESULT IN FINES.
Vrain goose pit is located right on the front range of the rockies. This field offers cut alfalfa and is centralized in an area with very limited pressure in the surrounding areas. The St. Vrain river also runs in close proximity to this property offering excellent waterfowl numbers year round. Waterfowl tend to utilize both the agriculture and the river to maximize loafing and feeding opportunities in both environments. The private road entering the field shown on our infinite outdoors app allows for minimal pressure from outside disturbance.

Hundreds of birds roosting in the river below the pit. Flight didn’t start until til 10:15 but had a lot of action once it did. Seems like new birds moved in and worked well in the decoys!

the property it self and the condition of the pit was good. There were lots of birds during the morning flight. I think with some weather and new birds pushed into the area this pit would do great!!

Pit lids are too small for the pit and it’s caving in on the inside. Gets very muddy if there’s snow. Birds do fly around it but there’s another pit 8 houses down and other open fields right by you that you’re competing with as well. There is no ladder either so if you can’t do tricep dips good luck getting in and out. This year this spot is not on the X.

The pit lids need some work for next year the birds flair almost immediately unless there’s snow on the ground covering the pit

Pit blind was too deep and would be impossible for an old person or out of shape person to safely get in and out of . I recommend either digging a pit with a bench on one end to help get out of or put a ladder in there . The pit frame was pretty noticeable since it stuck up above the ground and it’s very short cover . I think the birds could see it and that caused many of them to flare . Blending the pit frame into the dirt more will help break up the rectangle shape of the blind frame . Overall it was in a great location and with a few minor upgrades I think your success will be much better out of it .
